This Year, Give Dad the Gift of Great Skin — Here Are Our Top Men’s Skin Care Picks for Father’s Day

Everyday Health independently vets all recommended products. If you purchase a featured product, we may be compensated. Learn why you can trust us.

To start, we’d like to share a little secret. Are you ready? Here it is: The dad you’re celebrating this Father’s Day already owns enough ties. Phew. That felt good to get off our chests.

If you’re in the market for a Father’s Day gift that he’ll really like and actually use, may we suggest skin care? Although skin care routines are generally associated with women, men do in fact have skin.

Just like women’s skin, it gets dry and irritated, feels the effects of the sun, and ages. And it could use some TLC.
“Men often overlook early signs of sun damage, and tend to delay treating skin issues until they're more advanced,” says Zoe Indigo, MD, a board-certified dermatologist in Beverly Hills, California.

Dr. Indigo often sees men who have irritation related to shaving, ingrown hairs, and sensitivity, as well as seborrheic dermatitis, or facial dandruff. “Seborrheic dermatitis often shows up around the nose, brows, and beard area and needs special care,” she notes.

So what’s a man to do? Firstly, wear sunscreen. “Everyone, regardless of gender, should wear sunscreen every single day, and reapply when outdoors,” Indigo advises. Thomas Brown, DO, a board-certified dermatologist in Orlando, Florida, agrees. “A solid daily skin care routine for men should include three essentials: a gentle facial cleanser, a moisturizer, and a sunscreen,” he says. “And avoid convenient ‘3-in-1’ products, which contain unnecessary fragrances, dyes, and preservatives that can irritate the skin.”

With that guidance in mind, we found the best skin care products for the face, beard, body, and feet that will jump-start a smart skin care routine — and make excellent gifts for fathers and father figures alike this Dad’s day. Here’s to your guys’ great skin.

For His Face

Three lip balms

Jack Black Lip Balm Trio

Dry, cracked, and chapped lips not only look rough but can also feel painful as well. This lip balm offers relief — and the trio comes in an attractive reusable, recyclable box to boot. It includes emollient balm in pineapple mint, natural mint and shea butter, and shea butter and vitamin E flavors, all with SPF 25 protection. Encourage the dad you’re gifting to keep one handy all the time (it’ll fit nicely in his pocket) to get the soft lip benefits faster.
Horace purifying face cleanser

Horace Purifying Face Cleanser

Parisian brand Horace focuses on men’s grooming products that are between 95 and 100 percent natural. This face cleanser is made of 98.7 percent natural ingredients, including aloe vera and binchotan, which is a Japanese activated charcoal. It’s also vegan and unscented, and has a cooling effect that feels especially refreshing first thing in the morning or right before bed.

Jaxon Lane Bro Mask

$25.20 at Amazon
$28Now 10% Off
If you’re a fan of doing face masks and want some company from the dad in your life, here’s just the thing. While many sheet masks are designed for women’s faces, this one is made specifically for men, with ingredients aimed at helping with inflammation, dehydration, and oil production. It’s also cut in a larger size for men’s faces, and, since it comes in two pieces, can be used with facial hair. Sheet masks: now a family affair.

Atwater Eye Armor Eye Moisturizer

$30.40 at Amazon
$32Now 5% Off

Dads, like moms, are tired, and sometimes it shows. Enter: this eye cream. Ingredients like niacinamide (an antioxidant B3 which brightens and strengthens the skin), yeast and rice extracts (which nourish and firm the skin), and caffeine (maybe you’ve heard of it?), work together to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles, plus brighten and depuff the under-eye area. Good morning.

Kiehl’s Age Defender Cream Moisturizer

$56.70 at Amazon
$63Now 10% Off
Spoiler: Men care about anti-aging products, too. We like this one from Kiehl’s, which is made specifically for men’s thicker, coarser skin. It’s a gentle exfoliant that helps to smooth rough skin as well as fine lines and wrinkles. Our research found that this moisturizer is effective and feels great on the skin.

Kiehl’s Better Screen UV Serum SPF 50+ Facial Sunscreen With Collagen Peptide

$40.50 at Amazon
$45Now 10% Off
As we noted, the best defense against aging skin is always SPF. This lightweight option works for all skin types, doesn’t leave a white cast, and helps correct signs of aging while protecting against sun damage. Gift it, then advise him to wear it every day — come rain or shine (or clouds). He’ll thank you later.

Pretty Boy Revival Gel Moisturizer for Men

$20.99 at Amazon

Pretty Boy was created by guys, for guys. The brand is focused on multifunctional, simple, and lightweight products for all skin types, and this one is their signature. Made with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ceramides, and squalene, it’s designed to hydrate, plus help with redness and even soothe razor burn and beard itch. It’s also notable for being the first male-focused brand to get the coveted Seal of Acceptance from the National Eczema Association.

Doctor Rogers Night Repair Treatment

$20.99 at Amazon
For the man who likes to make the most of his downtime, wrap up this night cream. While he sleeps, it uses ingredients like bakuchiol, glycolic acid, and sodium PCA to increase collagen supply and reverse sun damage. Plus, it’ll let him in on the joy of a pre-bed skin routine, which is a lovely way to wind down after a long day of dadding.

For His Beard

Scotch Porter Get Bearded Collection

$20.99 at Amazon
If you’re looking for a higher-end gift option for a bearded dad, this will do the trick. From the premium men’s grooming brand Scotch Porter, this set includes beard wash, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, balm, and oil, as well as a microfiber towel. In other words, it’s a full beard care routine in one box. In our research, we found that using the products regularly keeps beards manageable and silky smooth.

Seven Potions Beard Comb

$20.99 at Amazon
Have beard, must brush. Seriously — regular brushing keeps a beard detangled, and spreads the skin’s natural oils throughout the beard to keep it smooth. This brush is made from pear wood, with three bristle options: boar firm, boar soft, or vegan firm. Boar firm is best for long and thick beards, boar soft is best for sparser beards and sensitive skin, and vegan offers a plant-based alternative.
Blind barber beard oil

Blind Barber Beard and Face Replenishment Oil

This attractively packaged product blends tonka bean, shea oil, sunflower oil, and sweet almond oil to moisturize and soften coarse beard hair. Receiving dads should massage it into both their beards and the skin underneath to keep their faces moisturized.

For His Body

Supergoop Play Everyday Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50

$34.20 at Amazon
$36Now 5% Off

With Father’s Day strategically placed at summer’s start, a great sunscreen that he’ll use all season is the perfect gift. And this one from Supergoop is a truly great sunscreen: it absorbs quickly, feels hydrating, and isn’t sticky or greasy (as so many sunscreens are). With its high SPF, it’s perfect for everyday wear — whether he’s headed to the office or to spend a day on the lake, it’ll keep him comfortable and protected.

O’Keefe’s Working Hands Hand Cream

$15.11 at Amazon
$17.99Now 16% Off
For a dad with dry, cracked hands, there’s no better gift than this unscented, nongreasy hand cream. It really works to offer relief, and although it feels heavy at first, it absorbs quickly and feels great on the skin. Encourage your giftee to use this regularly — think: after hand washing, showering, and before bedtime — for best results.
Bravo Sierra Body Wash in bergamot and musk

Bravo Sierra Body Wash

This gel-to-cream, coconut-derived body wash is gentle enough that it’s fine to use multiple times a day, making it an ideal gift for the dad who’s an athlete or whose job requires an extra shower. As an added bonus, Bravo Sierra donates a portion of each sale to support U.S. military veterans.

SandBar Original Callus File

$39.99 at Amazon
For the dad who works with his hands or spends a lot of time in the weight room, callus removal is key. This file is designed specifically for hands, rather than feet, and is a simple way to remove dead skin without causing pain or discomfort. It comes with a salve, too, which restores moisture after filing and helps hands to heal. In other words, this is exactly what he needs but would never think to ask for.

Wonder Valley Hinoki Body Wash

$34 at Amazon
Wonder Valley is not just a purveyor of skin care; they also make their own olive oil. For this product, they’ve combined their olive oil with willow bark, ashwagandha, and aloe vera to hydrate, boost collagen production, and soothe skin. This body wash works well for all skin types and is free from parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and artificial dyes.
body lotion

Nivea Men Breathable Body Lotion

If the dad you’re gifting is moisturizer-avoidant, we’d like to offer up this lotion as a solution. With no sticky residue or greasy feel, it acts like a breath of fresh air for your skin and keeps it moisturized all day. Our research found that the product doesn’t feel like it’s trapping sweat underneath a layer of lotion, and that it really lives up to the “breathable” descriptor. Go forth and moisturize.

Malin + Goetz Vitamin B5 Body Moisturizer

$45 at Amazon
Another body moisturizing option, coming right up. Malin + Goetz was founded by two men in 2004, and makes a large line of effective, attractive products. With a slightly higher price tag, this comes in a fancier-looking package and uses shea butter, radish root ferment, and oat. It also absorbs quickly and keeps skin moisturized all day.
Bio-oil dry skin gel

Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel

Extremely dry skin can be hard to manage with just moisturizer. That’s where this gel, which targets the top layer of the skin and works to soothe and restore moisture, comes in. Without alcohol, sulfates, parabens, or phthalates, this product isn’t harsh or painful, and combined with moisturizer, it makes a real difference for dry skin. PSA: A little goes a long way, so the relatively small jar should last for a while.
Drunk Elephant miracle butter

Drunk Elephant Wonderwild Miracle Butter

When it comes to skin, there are certain body parts that require a concentrated effort, and dry elbows, cracked heels, and windburned cheeks rank high among them. This product, which is made with restorative plant butters, is designed specifically to heal those hard-to-fix spots. If the dad you’ve got in mind struggles with dry, cracked areas, this makes a great and caring gift.

For His Feet

PureOrganica Urea 40% Cream

$14.39 at Amazon
$15.99Now 10% Off
Dry, cracked feet can feel like a forever condition that’s impossible to solve. This cream works to remove dead skin

and soften feet by increasing moisture and dissolving keratin, which helps the dead skin cells fall off. Of note, urea is a powerful organic compound, and 40 percent is the highest concentration it comes in (and it should not be used on the face).

Derm Dude Foot File & Heel Repair Tool

$12 at Amazon
For a real one-two punch, combine the cream above with this kit and let the foot healing begin. With a cleaning brush, pumice stone, metal file, and emery board, this 4-in-1 tool can remove dead or dry skin as well as corns and calluses, plus exfoliate and clean feet and nails. It’s basically the gift of an at-home pedicure, minus polish.
Aveda Foot Relief moisturizing cream

Aveda Foot Relief Cream

For the foot that needs some light moisturizing, turn to this cooling, invigorating cream. The blend of exfoliating fruit acids and plant-derived oils like jojoba and castor make it feel soft and pleasing on the skin, and it works hard to prevent cracking.

Skincare Gift Sets

Malin + Goetz Best-Sellers Travel Kit

$40 at Amazon
We’ve already sung this brand’s praises, but we really do love them, and for a dad who travels frequently, you can’t go wrong with this all-in-one kit. It includes a grapefruit face cleanser, vitamin E face moisturizer, bergamot hand and body wash, vitamin B5 body moisturizer, cilantro hair conditioner, and peppermint shampoo. With this in his dopp kit, he’ll have everything he needs for his face, hair, and body at the ready — and he’ll leave his hotel room every morning looking (and feeling) like a million bucks.
Skincare set

Jaxon Lane Deluxe Skincare Set

For the luxe dad, consider this deluxe set. It comes with the bro mask (see our rave review above), bro mask eye gels, an anti-aging moisturizer, an enzyme powder face wash, and a daily moisturizing sunscreen, all in an attractive gift box. And note: although it’s pricey, each product comes in a full size, not a travel version, so he’ll have everything he needs for at least a few months.
