American Board of Obesity Medicine Foundation

The American Board of Obesity Medicine Foundation (ABOM Foundation) is a national nonprofit organization that develops and implements projects aligned with its mission to support the obesity medicine physician workforce so people living with obesity have access to high-quality, evidence-based healthcare in every community. ABOM-certified obesity medicine physicians evaluate, treat, and advocate for patients with the chronic disease of obesity and its related conditions. They accomplish this by delivering compassionate, unbiased, individualized, and evidence-based longitudinal care to enhance patient health and well-being and improve the health of society.

Since 2017, the ABOM Foundation has engaged in initiatives supporting the field of obesity medicine, including strategic collaborations with other healthcare professional organizations, support for medical education in obesity, clinical and outcomes research, as well as promotion of ABOM-certified obesity medicine physicians.

Kimberly Gudzune, MD, MPH, is the chief medical officer for the American Board of Obesity Medicine Foundation (ABOM Foundation), where she leads initiatives supporting the field of obesity medicine including strategy development and execution, clinical and outcomes research, and engagement of ABOM-certified obesity medicine physicians.

Adam Gilden, MD, MSCE

Adam Gilden, MD, MSCE, is an associate director of the Obesity Medicine Fellowship at University of Colorado School of Medicine and associate director of the Colorado University Medicine Weight Management and Wellness Clinic in Aurora. Dr. Gilden works in a multidisciplinary academic center with other physicians, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, and a psychologist, and collaborates closely with bariatric surgeons.
