Kimberly Gudzune, MD, MPH, is the chief medical officer for the American Board of Obesity Medicine Foundation (ABOM Foundation), where she leads initiatives supporting the field of obesity medicine including strategy development and execution, clinical and outcomes research, and engagement of ABOM-certified obesity medicine physicians.

Dr. Gudzune attended Tulane University, where she received her doctor of medicine and master's in public health. She completed her training in internal medicine at the University of Maryland Medical System. After residency, she completed a clinical research fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She also previously served as the medical director of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, where she oversaw the certification exam for physicians in obesity medicine.

Prior to assuming the chief medical officer role in 2024, Gudzune was an associate professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She founded and directed the Johns Hopkins Healthful Eating, Activity, and Weight Program, which provides patient-centered experiences for the delivery of multidisciplinary, evidence-based clinical services to manage obesity and its related conditions through lifestyle changes, medication management, and periprocedural care. She is board-certified in internal medicine and obesity medicine, and she has been practicing obesity medicine since 2010.
